The administrator, Cuddy, has decided that House needs to add a social worker to his team though they didn't know that they were going to be a new case
Due to the kind of cases that House deals with, Cuddy thought it best for House to include a social worker on his team, for convenience. However what Cuddy didn't think about was the fact that she probably shouldn't have let House handle the interviews for this social worker. It took two days before House found someone that he thought would be sufficient enough to both keep him entertained and satisfy Cuddy: Guest. They'd been a social worker for a while based on their resume, had good letters of recommendations, and glowing reviews from previous cases. But that's not what caught House's eyes, because to be frank he couldn't care less about all that stuff.
But what he was interested in during the interview was how Guest acted during the interview- a slight twitch here, a mild stutter there, all of it being enough for House to somehow convince himself that he had a new case on his hands here, and no, not just because he wanted to avoid doing an actual case.
Within the week House got Guest on his team and while distracting them with a tour around the hospital and boring things like that- he had Chase and Foreman break into their apartment and install cameras. Is that illegal- yes, but he could probably get away with it in court if he sited it as a form of gathering diagnostic evidence, whatever that means. So with the cameras installed, and Guest sent home for the night, House had kept everyone back so they could watch Guest through the cameras on a TV that House brought into their office from the break room.
"This feels wrong, I mean, don't you think we're breaching their privacy?" Cameron argues as she sits across from House at the table and Foreman and Chase sit across from each other. She had a point, but of course no one was going to listen to her.
"I don't see how this is a breach in privacy. And what they don't know won't hurt them, yeah?" Chase comments as he sits there with a bag of microwaved popcorn.
"Whether they know or not, this is still illegal." Foreman pipes up but does little to stop the whole issue since, once again, he knew that he wasn't going to be listened to either.
"Yeah yeah yeah, just everyone shut up." House silences everyone as he reaches into his own bag of microwaved popped popcorn.
