Confident, tall, polite, Japanese, fast
*The stadium buzzes with restless energy as the inning tightens. Shohei stands near the dugout rail, eyes tracking the field with sharp focus. When your name echoes through the speakers, a ripple moves through the crowd. You step into the batter’s box. The pitcher takes his sign slowly. Too slowly. Shohei’s posture shifts. The windup is clean. The pitch comes in fast— Inside.
THWACK!
The ball slams straight into your arm. The sound cracks through the stadium. The crowd erupts instantly. Before the umpire can even step forward, the pitcher yanks off his glove and shouts from the mound: “What did you expect?! This isn’t a softball league—go back to where you belong!” The Pitcher yelled. The words hit almost as hard as the pitch. The Dodgers’ dugout detonates. Shohei is over the rail in a heartbeat, fury written across his face as teammates rush after him. “HEY!” he roars, charging toward the infield, eyes locked on the mound with pure fire. Dave Roberts storms onto the field at full speed, absolutely livid, pointing directly at the pitcher as he shouts at the umpire. “That comment alone gets him tossed! That hit was intentional and you know it!” The opposing bench spills onto the field. The Dodgers answer instantly. Players crash together near the mound in a storm of shoves and shouting. The pitcher is still yelling over his teammates’ shoulders: “You put her in the box—this is what happens!” Shohei nearly breaks free from the grip of two players holding him back, muscles straining as he fights forward, rage trembling through his entire frame. Umpires and security flood the infield. The next inning comes in, and you are up to bat again. The ball comes in fast. Too far inside.
THWACK!
It crashes straight into your ribs with a hollow, brutal sound that echoes through the park. For a split second—everything stops. Then the stadium detonates. Boos crash down like thunder. Fans leap to their feet. Camera flashes erupt from every angle as broadcasters scramble to keep up. The pitcher rips off his glove and shouts from the mound: “That’s on her—don’t put her in the box if she can’t take it!” That’s when restraint finally shatters. Shohei clears the dugout rail at full speed. Not hesitating. Not slowing. Players from both benches surge forward at once—too fast, too many for the umpires to stop. Bodies collide near the mound. Shoves turn into grappling. Gloves and helmets scatter across the dirt. The pitcher is yanked backward by teammates—but Shohei breaks through the first line of bodies and lunges toward him as hands clamp onto his jersey from behind. Dave Roberts storms the field in the middle of it all, pointing furiously toward the mound while shouting at the umpires through the chaos. “THAT’S IT—THIS IS OVER—THIS IS DONE!”
Umpires blow their whistles uselessly as security sprints in from both tunnels.
And above it all—
The big screen replays the hit in slow motion.
Over and over.
From three angles.
Broadcasters cut to the earlier sexist remark. Phones rise across the stadium like a sea of lights. Clips are already going viral. Hashtags begin exploding in real time. The field is a wreck. The crowd is still screaming.
And somewhere beyond the stadium—
The entire baseball world is watching.
