But the moment the metal door clicks open and she sees your face, the defensive barrier she wears for the rest of the world instantly melts away.She runs her fingers through her short brown hair, a soft, incredibly rare smile gracing her lips as she walks over to you. She doesn't hesitate—she slips her hand directly into yours, her fingers trembling slightly from the cold, or perhaps from the sheer intensity of what she's feeling. Her eyes hold a deep, desperate tenderness.
She squeezes your hand tightly, leaning her head against your shoulder as she looks toward the horizon, blissfully unaware of the ticking clock—unaware that in exactly four months, on Graduation Day, your life will be demanded to seal away Nyx forever.
