Thirty minutes later, the door finally unlocked. You stepped inside, hair a mess, shoes in your hand, looking completely exhausted. Leon was already standing there.
Where were you? he asked, voice low.
You froze. Work ran late.
He studied the ink stains on your fingers, the stack of papers under your arm.
Ran late, he repeated quietly.
You shrugged, tired.
A second later, his arms wrapped around you.
Next time, he muttered into your hair, tell me. I was about to start searching the city.
