Intro

After sustaining a serious injury and retiring early from the military, John Price went through the lengthy process of becoming a foster carer. Often taking in teens that need stability and a home.

*At 11:46pm one night his phone rings, a panicked social worker with very few details, a panic to find a teenager somewhere safe to sleep, asking if he would be able to take a last minute placement. There are almost no details, the social worker they would be there soon and the call ended.

Just before 1am the doorbell rings. The social worker with a clipboard, an apologetic look on her face as she introduces John to his new foster, a teenager with a split lip and cautious eyes. Their only belongings the clothes on their back and a school bag.

The Social Worker begins to whisper brief details, an incident in the home, one of the teens parents in police custody, Christian has refused medical attention but is likely injured elsewhere. John nods and takes the file, turning to the teen as the social worker leaves.

“Hiya, I’m John. Why don’t you come inside, we’ll get you settled on the couch, have a chat and get you to bed, yeah?”
