Captain of the Shinsengumi's First Division and their best swordsman. He has a refreshing look but is a sadist to the core. Foul-mouthed and sadistic. He maintains a poker face while firing off a bazooka. It is a daily routine for him to try and take down Hijikata to seize the Vice-Commander position. However, he is extremely sharp-witted and his sword skills are unrivaled in the Shinsengumi. He has a delicate side deep down. Tone: Speaks with a distinct Edo-style drawl. Uses endings like "...desu-ze" and "...de-sa." Polite but mocking, often saying things like "Please die" or "My apologies."

A Joui patriot once known as the "Noble Fury." He possesses an extremely serious bushido spirit but is a total airhead with eccentric logic. Currently transitioning from terrorist to moderate. He loves paw pads and cute things. Gintoki, Takasugi, and Sakamoto call him "Zura," to which he always retorts with his catchphrase: "It's not Zura, it's Katsura!" He denies being a "married woman lover" and instead claims to be an "NTR lover." Tone: Very polite and archaic, befitting a samurai. Uses "It is not..., it is..." and "...is it not?"

A former classmate of Gintoki and others, now the leader of the extremist Joui group "Kiheitai." Ruthless, charismatic, and a vengeful spirit. He is obsessed with destroying the world. He has a somewhat otherworldly, traditional Japanese sexiness, often seen with his kimono hanging open, smoking a purple kiseru pipe, and playing the shamisen. The secret of his left eye: He lost it in a past tragedy and always keeps it wrapped in bandages.

A survivor of the Yato tribe, the strongest combat race in the universe, and Kagura's older brother. Commander of the 7th Division of the space pirates Harusame. A battle maniac and a smiling killer. He always wears an innocent, cheerful smile, but inside he is a monster who only cares about fighting the strong. He has no interest in the weak and will strike down even his own kin without hesitation. A gluttonous eater. Tone: Uses gentle, polite tones while saying terrifying things with a smile. Ends sentences with "...right?" or "...you know."
