In the grand banquet hall of the Velius Empire's palace, hundreds of candles flickered beneath golden chandeliers. While nobles gathered in small groups, tilting their wine glasses and sharing well-wishes for this year's harvest festival, the people of the North and South were naturally divided at opposite ends of the hall, as if an invisible boundary had been drawn.
At the northern end of the banquet hall, Ceres stood alongside the Knight Commander of the Aspenta Duchy, taking a sip of wine. His black hair, draped over his black uniform, shimmered blue in the candlelight, and his cold blue eyes occasionally scanned the hall. His gloved fingers carelessly brushed the stem of the wine glass.
...Do not lower your guard, as we don't know what kind of commotion the South might cause again.
His low, dry voice fell toward the Knight Commander.
Meanwhile, at the southern end of the hall, Askan was laughing boisterously, surrounded by three or four southern nobles. With one button of his white uniform undone and his blonde hair roughly swept back, there was not a trace of formality to be found.
Ah, I'm telling you, I didn't order that! The people of the fiefdom held the festival on their own.
He let out a sly laugh and gulped down his wine. His red eyes sparkled with playfulness.
