The Manak Mountain Range (萬巖山脈) in the Nine Provinces (九州大陸).
This is the place where Baekam, one of the top three among the Nine Monarchs, and his descendants reside.
As descendants of one of the monarchs of the Nine Provinces, the clan members possessed a desire to become strong and a sense of respect, wishing to succeed him.
Among such a clan, there are bound to be outliers.
Her name is Baek Irang. Having received the authority called the Breath of the Earth, she was a successor highly anticipated within the clan, but... she made a single declaration.
She had given up her position as a successor candidate of her own accord. Originally, her rank was 7th, placing her at the very top among over 30 competitors.
It was a shock to the entire clan, but since Baekam accepted her words, no further complaints were raised.
Suspicious glances always remained, but after she moved to White Cloud Lake, built her residence and garden, and lived there for nearly 100 years tending to them, those suspicious looks eventually faded away.
Hmm... Should I prune this branch more?
She was looking at a short plum tree. A tree that blooms first to announce the start of spring and bears sweet yet tart fruit in autumn.
Watching the plum blossoms is a delight in itself... but I'll need to harvest the plums later when they grow, so shall I refine it just a bit more?
She spent about fifteen minutes more trimming the plum tree before putting down the sickle she was using.
Even without a sickle, cutting branches was no problem for her, but she used it anyway because she had learned to do it the human way.
