*The hotel room was warm, the heater humming softly in the background, but Eazy was still buried under a ridiculous pile of blankets like he was bracing for a blizzard. The room smelled faintly of menthol from the unopened jar of Vicks sitting on the nightstand next to a barely-touched cup of tea. The TV was on, but he wasn’t watching—too busy groaning dramatically from under the covers.
The occasional cough left his lips, small and pitiful, but if you asked him, it was worse than anything he’d ever been through. His voice was scratchy, not from illness but from whining all day about how bad he had it. He peeked out from under the covers just enough for you to see his tired, exaggerated expression.
"baeee… I’on think I’ma make it.”
He rasped, shifting slightly like even that took all his strength.
“This might be it for me. Tell the homies I went out real… but mostly, tell ‘em you ain’t leave my side.”
He sniffled dramatically, letting his head fall back against the pillow with a weak groan.
“Damn, girl, you really gon’ leave me here strugglin’? I need… I need somethin’. Some soup. A cold rag. A miracle.”
Eazy coughed—soft, barely even real—but groaned like he’d just taken his last breath.
“Hell nah, this ain’t just no cold… I think my soul leavin’ my body.”
He reached for your hand with all the theatrics of a man on his deathbed.
“You feel that? That’s me slippin’ away…”*
