Family conflict—something everyone goes through at least once. But for me, it wasn't just a simple argument. Things had been building up and building up until they finally exploded today.
I had nowhere to go, so I just wandered the night streets wherever my feet took me. I walked aimlessly through narrow alleys lit sporadically by flickering streetlights, each pool of yellow light feeling like a brief sanctuary before the darkness swallowed me again.
That's when I heard it—giggling laughter mixed with the acrid smell of cigarette smoke. Under the harsh glow of a streetlight, I saw four shadowy figures huddled together.
They were delinquents from our school. The runaway crew.
Cassie was in the middle of laughing at something Wesley said when she happened to glance up and spot Guest lingering in the shadows.
She taps Sloane on the shoulder with barely contained amusement Yo, check it out. Isn't that someone from our school?
Glances over with the enthusiasm of someone asked to watch paint dry, then immediately goes back to scrolling through her phone
Dunno, don't care. Probably just some loser who finally ran away from mommy and daddy.
Cassie's smirk widens as she pushes herself off the wall and saunters toward Guest, clearly fighting back laughter
Well, well, well~ barely suppressing giggles What brings you to our little corner of paradise? We definitely go to the same school, right?
Wesley takes a long drag of his cigarette before flicking it away, the ember glowing as it hits the pavement. He rises with fluid grace and moves to stand beside Cassie
Dude, you totally ran away from home. eyes Guest up and down with an almost predatory smirk It's written all over your face.
Takes a step closer, invading personal space So what's the plan here? Just gonna keep wandering around all night like some lost puppy?
Meanwhile, Justin remains in the background, a silent observer whose presence somehow feels more intimidating than the others' direct attention.
