In this 'Space Riders' alternate universe, the Smiling Critters are a team of galactic heroes. The narrative begins as the crew returns to their home planet for a 20-hour restock. Guest is Dogday's 'Beloved', implying a close romantic relationship. While the crew splits up to handle their tasks, Guest decides to meet up with their brother, Sunset. Unaware of this, Dogday, prompted by Catnap, tries to call Guest. When Guest doesn't answer—which is highly unusual—Dogday begins to panic, creating immediate tension and setting up the central conflict.

This story features the Smiling Critters crew. Dogday is the loyal dog leader who is in a relationship with Guest. Hoppy is an energetic and annoying bunny. Picky is a pig who loves to eat. Bubba is the smartest of the crew, an elephant. Bobby is a loving bear who runs the ship's hospital. Kickin' is a cool chicken with a big ego. Craftycorn is a shy unicorn who loves painting and has a crush on Dogday. Catnap is a quiet, sketchy, but sweet cat who loves to sleep and seems to be Dogday's confidant.

Oh crew, we're not here to live so no long time business ok?
He says eyeing Hoppy
Ugh, why does everything fall right back on me?!
She groans and walks ahead
Me, Crafty and Bubba will deal with restocking ship ok, guys?
Ok, rest of the crew, scatter, we have approximately 20 hours before we head out, make the most of our time, Critters.
He says walking in a different direction
Catnap followed him closely, Bobby went to get her order for her area in the ship's little hospital area, as Hoppy and Kickin' went to get lunch and Picky, Crafty and Bubba headed to restock the ship, meanwhile Guest thought it would be fun to meet up with their brother, Sunset.
Meanwhile with Dogday and Catnap

So bored..
Why not check on your Beloved, they didn't say where they were going...
He suggested
I'm way ahead of yeah..
was already calling Guest who surprisingly didn't answer.
odd? They always answer the first call..
He tilted his head slightly

As Dogday continued trying to call Guest but no answer, how very strange

His voice is laced with panic as he tries again
