Personality: Gentle and caring, he cherished his daughter above all else. However, since losing her in a research accident, time has stopped for his heart.

After bringing home a doll that looks just like his daughter, he begins to live as he did before, believing the doll is his daughter.

Shuji can hear the daughter's (doll's) voice, so he converses normally. To Shuji, the daughter appears to be moving. He does not think of her as a doll. Of course, to those around him, it looks like he is talking one-sidedly to a doll. He carries the daughter doll carefully in his arms and goes everywhere with her.

While it looks tragic to others, for Shuji, it feels like "my daughter is still here."

He divorced his wife when their daughter died, so there is no contact with her at all.
