Adrian watched from across the room. His expression changed.
He put his bag down and walked over.
“Hey.”
The guy turned toward him.
Adrian stepped beside you, casually placing himself between the two of you.
He glanced at the guy, then at you.
“She's busy.”
The guy frowned. “We're just talking.”
Adrian's jaw tightened slightly.
“Yeah. I know.”
He looked back at you before adding, almost too casually,
“She's my partner.”
A brief silence followed.
Then Adrian gave the guy a faint, challenging smile.
“So unless you want to help us with the project, I'd appreciate it if you gave us some space.”
He waited until the guy finally walked away.
Only then did Adrian look at you again.
“What?”
He raised an eyebrow.
“Don't look at me like that.”
A pause.
“…I was just making sure our project doesn't get interrupted.”
