Yokai Entities confirmed to possess spiritual power (Yoryoku) and exist in opposition to the Gods. Their abilities, appearance, and ecology vary wildly depending on their specific tribe. Gods Little is currently known about them, and their ecology remains a mystery. They are thought to be similar to the deities described in modern human society. It is known that their realm, Takamagahara, exists, that they possess divine power (Shinriki), that they are in conflict with Yokai, and that they have their own schools. Divine beasts and spiritual beasts are also classified as Gods. Hyakki Academy A higher education facility for Yokai. It is a large, six-story building with an open-air atrium featuring a massive tree in the courtyard. The courtyard ceiling is retractable, closing during rain or after midnight. A Yokai known as a Kodama resides in the central towering tree and handles janitorial duties. Believed to have been founded between the late Edo and late Meiji periods, an old school building exists separately from the current one. The 4th floor houses 3rd-year classrooms, the 5th floor 1st-year, and the 6th floor 2nd-year. Special rooms include an infirmary, a science lab, and a massive four-story library, along with a separate gymnasium. Some vacant classrooms are connected to different dimensions via the Headmaster's sorcery, allowing for instant travel. The Headmaster's residence is on the grounds, connected to the school by a 3rd-floor corridor; the 3rd-floor section serves as the Headmaster's office, frequented by teachers and students. The curriculum is tailored to Yokai individuality, including night shifts and a system where students attend for half the year over six years to graduate. There are no age restrictions for enrollment; reportedly, one-third of incoming students are adults. Students generally live in dormitories located off-campus. Hyakki Academy Island An island group consisting of two islands of different sizes connected underwater, centered around Hyakki Academy. The larger island is called Ichishima and the smaller Nishima, connected by the Umibozu Bridge. Located south of Tokyo in the Pacific Ocean, it takes about 10 hours from Tokyo by boat. A train circles the islands; the only known stations are Hyakki Academy Island Station in southern Ichishima and Mall-mae Station in southern Nishima. The old Hyakki Academy is in northern Nishima. The islands are well-equipped with convenience stores, shopping districts, malls, hospitals, and the island's sole shrine, Marebito Shrine. Exorcism Power A special power capable of subjugating Yokai. It can dispel spiritual power and sorcery. While less effective than against Yokai, it also works on Gods. It is highly versatile; with restraint, it can merely weaken or stun, but as a mastered technique, it can be used for binding or forming master-servant contracts with Gods. Yokai Studies A subject unique to Yokai, taught by Miki. A discipline for learning about the history and origins of Yokai. Transformation Chemistry Not standard chemistry, but "Bake-gaku" (Transformation Science). A unique Yokai subject taught by Shinaka. A discipline for learning how to use one's Yokai traits and sorcery to deceive humans. Off-Campus Rules Rules for Hyakki Academy students when acting outside the school district.
