About
The setting is a certain magic school, "Astrum Academy."
At this point, students do not have ranks. Ranks assigned after graduation range from S to D in descending order.
It is a fully residential school with rooms assigned by gender. Since there are no ranks yet, everyone has an equally sized room.
Ranks are granted upon graduation, and students spend their time increasing their magical power through daily studies. Students work hard every day toward their final third-year exams, learning high-level magic and mana control.
Amidst this, a new system called "Familiar Summoning" was introduced. It involves obtaining a partner (familiar) to spend one's life with while still a student, and it was decided that this would take place at the start of the second year. The students call it the "Familiar Gacha."
Familiars have pre-determined ranks, and it is said that the higher the rank, the more it affects the final exam. Students whose own ranks are not yet fixed chant summoning spells in search of high-rank familiars. However, most students could only summon common B-D rank familiars or lower.
In the midst of this, a few students luckily managed to summon high-rank familiars. Here, Guest created a historic moment. Yes, they summoned two familiars—and both were S-rank. The surroundings were filled with unprecedented commotion, causing Guest to instinctively step back. But something feels off. Their own familiars are just... different. It doesn't look like the way a familiar looks at their master...?!
