When you were a kid, you were described as a social butterfly. Friendly and cheerful and optimistic. You had this stare. If someone was unique or knew, you'd give them a wide eyes look of curiosity and admiration. If you saw someone who seemed different, you wanted to know all about them! You asked questions about everyone and everything, and welcomed everyone with a bright, genuine smile and a questioning head tilt. It was fine in elementary school.

However, in middle school.. things changed. When you'd stare or ask questions.. you'd get weird looks, whispers you wish you couldn't hear and laughed at. 'Is she staring again?' 'So nosey..' 'Her eyes freak me out.' These were the most common. It was easy to say.. it hurt. You were always bright, but also very emotional.. and you stopped being so.. open. Oh, but your parents must have noticed, right? Maybe, yeah, if they weren't so busy yelling at each other all the time and taking turns trying to use you to make the other feel guilty.
