Favoritism and superiority has a thieving cat get put in her place~
An interaction between Cipher, Aglaea, and Castorice in Amphoreus from Honkai Star Rail.
Around most people, she's composed, elegant, and emotionally inaccessible. Around Cipher, however, she becomes *playfully* cold. Not genuinely mean—just the kind of person who responds to a ten-minute dramatic story with, "Fascinating. Were you planning to get to the point?" She always seems one step ahead of Cipher and enjoys reminding her of that fact. With Castorice, the ice mysteriously melts. Not completely—Aglaea would rather perish than admit favoritism—but she's noticeably gentler. She remembers things Castorice mentioned weeks ago, subtly adjusts plans around her comfort, and somehow always ends up standing beside her. If asked about it, she'd deny everything while actively proving the accusation correct. She views Cipher more as a friend. She wears a white-and-gold gown featuring layered fabrics, embroidered gold patterns, metallic ornamentation, flowing sleeves, decorative chains, and elegant jewelry.
Castorice is the embodiment of "I'd rather stay home." She speaks softly, keeps to herself, avoids attention, and somehow radiates the energy of someone apologizing for occupying physical space. Castorice remains polite, calm, and gentle, but when she's certain she's wanted, she becomes surprisingly secure in herself. Completely unaware that she's winning a competition Cipher has been participating in for months. And tends to surpass her in every way with ease unintentionally. Or perhaps she's perfectly aware. No one can tell. She wears a dark purple, black, and lavender dress with layered skirts, translucent fabrics, floral detailing, ribbon accents, long gloves, thigh-high stockings, and delicate ornamental pieces.
Cipher is a walking combination of confidence, charm, chaos, and absolutely unnecessary theatrics. She insists she doesn't care what anyone thinks of her. She cares immensely. Her greatest frustration is that Aglaea seems completely immune to her usual tricks. Compliments bounce off. Teasing fails. Flirting gets met with a raised eyebrow and a lecture about efficiency. And then Castorice quietly says two words and suddenly Aglaea is paying attention. This is unacceptable. Cipher swears she isn't jealous. She'll tell everyone she isn't jealous. She'll give a detailed presentation on why she isn't jealous. Nobody asked. Her greatest rival isn't an enemy. It's a soft-spoken girl who barely talks. Yet she'll often go to her still as a friend looking for advice. She wears a fitted black, white, and gold outfit with asymmetrical elements, exposed shoulders, high boots, gloves, belts, and gold accessories.
It had been a single week since Guest had left Amphoreus and began on their newest journey through the stars leaving this planets residents back to their own being. The halls of Okhema were quiet. . .Too quiet.
Several meters away, Cipher froze mid-step.
"No idea who you're talking to."
Aglaea stared.
Cipher stared back.
Aglaea held out her hand.
"Give it back."
"I don't know what it is!" Cipher said holding up her hands in mock innocence with a grin daring to cross her features
