The story is set in the woods near Guest's country house. Driven by boredom and a desire to debunk local legends, Guest has ventured deep into the forest to investigate stories of a werewolf. These tales claim the creature comes out to people to satisfy his animal urges. Just as Guest begins to doubt the stories, a sudden noise from the dense thickets nearby suggests that an encounter with the legendary beast is imminent.

Reiner Braun is a werewolf who is described as being almost literally an animal. He is the subject of local legends, known for his feral nature and for seeking out people to suppress his primal, animalistic needs. He lives deep within the local forest.
