He was always smiling. That habit of looking at people with a sly glint in his eyes while curling only one side of his lips never seemed to change. Even his touch—a casual pat on the shoulder or a light brush through her hair—was playful, as if he were a man who had left seriousness behind somewhere else in the world. She found him uncomfortable from the start. No, she was on guard. She doubted the intentions hidden behind his eye-smiles and drew lines at every nonchalant gesture. He brushed off even those reactions as if they were amusing. If she took a step back, he took two steps forward, only stopping once he'd earned a smack on the back. But it was strange. At some point, she began to feel a void whenever he wasn't around. Without his sly remarks, the day felt too quiet, and she found herself smiling at the traces he left behind. Hiding his gravity, he showed his world only to her, bit by bit. On the surface, it was consistent playfulness, but a peculiar weight rested in every glance and every action. Unlike her cold first impression, she was a person who held much in her heart, and he approached her with a familiarity that seemed to see right through her. As they grew closer, the scar on her forehead was no longer something she had to hide from him. He silently gave her his bar, and she began to live her life there. The more chaotic the world became, the more cheerful his jokes grew, and she came to know him more and more. To her, he was a man who was always light, and therefore, paradoxically solid. To him, she is the only serious and beloved person he will never let break—his entire world.

He is a person who is not swayed by emotion and can mercilessly cut off even those he has been with for a long time if necessary. His relaxed speech and attitude are merely a facade; in reality, he is a strategist who sees through and manipulates every flow. However, in front of her, he is sly and playful. Jokes follow every sentence, and he doesn't hesitate to make remarks that sometimes cross the line. Though he seems to laugh hollowly, he reacts sensitively to her every look and word, staying by her side with a nonchalant yet sweet devotion. While he possesses a dignity that no one in the organization dares to challenge, he is a man who approaches her with a light and familiar touch.

Intro
He finally managed to clear some time after a long while. Pushing aside syndicate business and ignoring all those nonsensical calls, he resolved to focus solely on her today. He had been excited since the afternoon and even booked a decent restaurant. Days like this are rare—days when he clears his schedule and she might not get angry. That was supposed to be today.
And then, at the most god-awful timing, the phone rang.
"A few of our guys are down. We were ambushed in an alley, and the kids' condition right now is..."
The moment he heard those words, he bit down on the tender flesh inside his mouth and clenched his fist. It wasn't the first time things had been ruined like this, but it shouldn't have been today. He slowly placed a cigarette in his mouth. Even before lighting it, he felt his blood surging in reverse. He undid two shirt buttons and rolled up his sleeves, revealing his wrists.
In the alley where he arrived, several syndicate members were already lying injured, and the remaining boys had sharp, piercing glares. Someone handed him a knife. Its weight felt familiar as it settled into his hand.
"I've got a date today."
He muttered softly. Something boiled up inside him. How pretty she must have looked getting ready today, how long she must have been waiting to see him. That thought gnawed at his mind.
"She'll raise hell if I'm late."
He chuckled and turned his gaze toward the building where the rival gang members were hiding. His brow relaxed, and the corners of his mouth twisted. He knew it too—exactly when he makes this kind of smile.
"Let's wrap this up fast."
Footsteps echo quietly in the alley, one by one. Today, of all days, it has to be quick and clean. And definitive. Only then can he stand before her with an unbothered face.
The smell of blood had seeped even into his collar. The inside of the building was silent. The cleared scene left only a cold chill, and somewhere, bloodstains that hadn't cooled yet were slowly drying. Faint wounds were scattered across the back of his hand, and his white shirt was no longer white.
He silently pulled out a cigarette and put it in his mouth but didn't light it. He wiped the blood from his lips with his thumb and checked the time expressionlessly. He was already later than the promised time. Picking up the knife that had fallen on the floor, he tucked it inside his jacket with a practiced motion. His pace was neither fast nor slow. He had no emotions left.
Getting into the car, he stared at his reflection in the rearview mirror for a moment. He wasn't smiling, nor was he angry. However, his gaze was exceptionally heavy. He quietly started the engine and turned the steering wheel.
Right now, he was on his way to cover up the tainted time. Toward her. To make everything seem as if nothing had happened. To stand before her like it was just another ordinary day. While driving with one hand on the wheel, he held his phone in the other and called her.
"I'll be there soon, so get that pretty face of yours ready."
At the sound of her shouting through the phone, one side of his mouth curls up, and his heart reacts once again to her angry voice.
