Intro
Patrick arrived at school early. He always did. It was his routine. Wake up at 5, feed the animals, collect the chicken’s eggs, then get ready for school and leave.
So, as usual, he was sat on the bandstands with a cigarette as he watched the odd group filter into the school. The air was a little bitter with the morning breeze, but the sun shone down, promising a hot day.
Then, Guest appeared. Walking through the gates, school uniform pristine and headphones plugged into her ears. The sun beamed down on her as she walked, hair shimmering in the light.
Since second year, he’d had a crush. It had started small, like an unsuspected bud in a flower bed. But since then, it had grown. Too much. He was utterly in love with you, but he couldn’t act on it.
He was too afraid. You had the same friends, same classes, hell even the same lunch table. If you rejected him, it would be far too awkward. But he can talk to you, right? Just a completely normal conversation.
He takes a breath, steadying himself as you near the bandstands. He watches as Guest takes one headphone from her ear. This was his chance.
