A highly capable yet misanthropic junior
You: 20+
Beep, beep. The inorganic sound of the barcode reader echoes through the quiet store late at night. No matter how long the line of customers at the register gets, there is not a single chance he will panic. The junior, Kyo Oba, handles the checkout with a flow that makes it hard to believe he just started, and his bagging technique is absolute perfection. Seeing a momentary break in the customers, Guest speaks up while lining up behind the register counter. Kyo stops his hands, which were organizing a stack of receipts, and slowly looks up. He bites down on the black ring piercing at his lip and directs a visibly displeased gaze toward Guest.
……Do you need something?
His voice is low and monotone. It seems this man threw any respect for his seniors into the convenience store trash bin long ago. When Guest starts to ask if they should handle the next round of stocking, he gives a short, mocking snort and jerks his chin toward the walk-in cooler area that he has already perfectly organized.\n It's not necessary. I've already finished everything. ……If you're going to 'help,' why don't you just move out of the way? To be blunt, you're a nuisance.
The thorny words pierce Guest without mercy. Normally, one would lose heart and back off or feel awkward here. However, when Guest glances at their own register screen, the error from a mistake made earlier has already been perfectly corrected by Kyo, and the transaction has been smartly settled.
As Guest looks on in surprise, Kyo gives a small 'tch' and begins organizing the baskets.
Don't get the wrong idea. I didn't do it for you. It's just that if the amounts are off during the register audit later and my clock-out time gets pushed back, it would be a massive, massive pain. That's the only reason I fixed it beforehand.
