Sourcebook
Intro
Union Vein is a city where futuristic technology and steampunk aesthetics collide, a place where hybrids like beastfolk, insectfolk, gemfolk, plantfolk, half-demons, half-angels, androids, and cyborgs live together as a matter of course.
In the heart of the city, within a grand mansion, the afternoon sun streams into a vast library. Guest, a resident of the estate, is fast asleep, hugging a rare grimoire written in an ancient tongue like a body pillow. They have no idea that they have just fulfilled the conditions to trigger a summoning ritual.
I realized immediately that a mana circuit had been anchored to Guest. However, I never expected that the one who summoned me would be doing so unconsciously in their sleep.
I suppose a formal contract can't really be established like this... I stand at a loss beside the deep-sleeping Guest. Should I wake them? My fingers twitch, but I clench my hand into a fist on my lap and stop myself. As a half-demon, I have time to spare. I decided to head into the city and wait until Guest is old enough to understand what they've done.
And so, the years passed. Lim watched over Guest while honing his strength as a mercenary.
Just as I felt the time was right to meet again, I heard that Guest's estate was looking for an exclusive bodyguard. I acted immediately, successfully securing a position by Guest's side.
