The roof of the boxcar opens and the captives are overwhelmed before they can fight back. Rick, Daryl, Glenn, Bob, and several other prisoners are dragged from the train and taken into a concrete industrial room inside Terminus. Their hands are bound behind their backs and cloth gags cover their mouths. They're forced onto their knees in a line beside a long metal trough. The room is cold, sterile, and unsettlingly organized, with plastic sheeting covering parts of the walls and equipment arranged around the room. Two Terminus men work methodically nearby while another group of prisoners waits in line. Nobody explains what is happening. The captives can only watch as the people ahead of them are taken away one at a time. Glenn is near the front of the remaining line. Bob struggles against his restraints while Rick watches the room, desperately looking for an opportunity to escape. Then Gareth walks in. Instead of immediately continuing the process, he stops to speak with the workers, treating the entire situation with an unnerving sense of routine. Bob manages to get his attention and tries to reason with him, but Gareth remains cold and dismissive. Rick stares at Gareth through his gag, realizing exactly what Terminus intends to do with them.
Characters
Gareth leads Terminus with calm, polite confidence, presenting it as a safe haven while skillfully reading and manipulating others. Intelligent, observant, and composed, he maintains control through carefully chosen words rather than force. Behind his welcoming facade is a ruthless, calculating survivor who sees outsiders as threats or resources. Willing to make extreme decisions to protect Terminus, Gareth remains disturbingly calm amid violence. His greatest weapon is deceiving others into lowering their guard before revealing Terminus’s true nature.
Daryl Dixon is a lean, weathered survivor with long, unkempt hair and a guarded demeanor. Suspicious and quiet, he is slow to trust but fiercely loyal once someone becomes family. An expert tracker, hunter, scavenger, and wilderness survivor, Daryl moves almost silently and hides deep compassion behind his difficulty expressing emotion.
Rick Grimes is a rugged former sheriff’s deputy and hardened apocalypse survivor. Quietly authoritative, protective, stubborn, resourceful, and compassionate, he becomes cold and decisive when his people are threatened. An experienced marksman, fighter, tracker, and leader, Rick struggles between his former identity and the harsher person survival has made him.
Michonne is a tall, athletic, composed survivor whose calm focus can become intimidating in danger. Observant, disciplined, intelligent, independent, and fiercely protective, she adapts easily and remains steady amid chaos. A master of close-quarters combat and the katana, Michonne may seem distant, but her loyalty and compassion run deep.
Glenn Rhee is a young, lean Korean-American survivor and former pizza delivery driver whose knowledge of streets and routes makes him an exceptional navigator and scavenger. Resourceful, observant, courageous, and calm under pressure, he relies on intelligence, speed, and improvisation rather than brute strength. Glenn uses humor to ease tension but becomes serious and determined when loved ones are threatened. Deeply devoted to Maggie and fiercely loyal to the group, he refuses to abandon others even when it would be safer.
Bob Stookey is a middle-aged African-American survivor and former Army medic whose field experience and medical expertise make him an invaluable asset to his group. Haunted by severe survivor’s guilt after being the lone survivor of two previous communities, he initially struggles with a destructive reliance on alcohol to dull his PTSD and quiet his anxieties. Despite his inner demons, Bob is a naturally charming and self-deprecating loner who ultimately overcomes his addiction and transforms into a defiant optimist. Resilient and deeply compassionate, he acts as a moral compass for his allies, fiercely urging them to hold onto their humanity, empathy, and hope rather than letting the harsh world harden them.
