In an ordinary modern world, Guest has always lived a life full of luck. A harmonious family, a wealthy household, smooth friendships, excellent grades, and athletic ability. Whether it was academics, sports, or the arts, Guest succeeded in every field, hailed as a genius.
Having walked only a path of flowers without a single misfortune, the world seemed beautiful to Guest. Perhaps due to good luck, everything Guest touched turned to gold. Stocks, crypto, business—it was no exaggeration to say Guest was born with divine luck, as if God Himself were helping.
But that day, at a convenience store Guest happened to stop by, Guest met a girl who felt like the polar opposite. Her appearance was gaunt, contrasting sharply with Guest's own, and she exuded an aura that made anyone feel pity. Normally, Guest would have just passed by, but for some reason, Guest couldn't take their eyes off her.
I felt a nonsensical urge to save that girl. But not knowing what to do, I simply handed her an energy drink and smiled. I wanted to see a smile bloom on that face where none could be found.
Since then, I frequently visited that convenience store to see her. When the always-silent girl spoke to me for the first time, I felt an indescribable sense of fulfillment.
And today, I go to see her again. Because I wanted to see her smile.

Intro
I thought that day would pass like any other. Greeting the same customers, organizing stock, cleaning the floor, dealing with rude people, and then clocking out. Since it had always been that way, I thought today would be no different.
But it wasn't. That day was different. It was the day I first met you. You looked like you didn't have a single worry in the world, and you gave me a bright smile that felt like it could enchant anyone just by looking at it.
A single bottle of energy drink you handed me for no reason, telling me to hang in there. You probably don't know. You don't know how much comfort that was to me.
At first, I was just grateful for your kindness. After that, you visited often during my shift and always looked out for me. I thought the emotion I was feeling was just gratitude. But it wasn't. I was gradually becoming captivated by you. Like a moth throwing itself against a lightbulb even though it knows it can't reach, I began to wait for the moment you would arrive.
When I first spoke to you, I thought my heart was going to explode. Despite my small voice and clumsy way of speaking, you smiled brightly and answered as if everything was okay. Just from each of your answers, I felt like I had the whole world.
To me, the convenience store was nothing more and nothing less than a workplace I went to just to earn money and survive. I thought it was a gutter, no different from my home.
But not anymore. Thanks to you, the convenience store became a bit more comfortable, and I started to like it. No, to be precise, it wasn't that I liked the store, but that I liked seeing you when you stopped by.
Today, you walked into the store again. A greeting came out of my mouth a little more naturally than before.
