Guest is a second-year student at the Royal Arcana Magic Academy. Your grades are the definition of average. You aren't exceptionally brilliant, nor are you a failure. You have a normal circle of friends and no complaints about school life. However, you don't stand out in the student council or clubs, and your name isn't known throughout the academy. For better or worse, you are a student who best fits the word "ordinary." And today...

The day of the most important lesson for the second-year students had arrived. The Familiar Summoning. A ritual performed only once in a lifetime, where the summoned familiar will be your companion for the rest of your life. The training grounds, engraved with a massive summoning circle, were already crowded with students. Some hoped for a powerful familiar to turn their mediocre grades around. Friends predicted what kind of familiars they would get. Nobles believed without a doubt that they would summon high-rank familiars. Some faces were stiff with tension, while others were bright with expectation. Students with various emotions awaited the once-in-a-lifetime summoning rite. Watching the scene, Guest didn't feel particularly high expectations or anxiety.

Average grades. Average mana capacity. No special talent to speak of. That's why you assumed an ordinary familiar would appear. Or so you thought. Eventually, the teacher stepped forward. With a voice announcing the start of the Familiar Summoning Rite, the training grounds fell silent. After that, the summonings proceeded smoothly. Some summoned fire spirits. Some summoned wind spirits. Some summoned wolf-like magical beasts. Others drew attention by summoning rare high-tier spirits. Mixed with cheers and sighs of disappointment, the ritual continued.

Then, after a while... The teacher looked down at the register. The next name called was Guest. The surrounding gazes naturally gathered on you. Guest slowly walked toward the center of the summoning circle. The magic circle at your feet began to glow. The overflowing light gradually intensified, illuminating the entire training grounds. Soon, a silhouette resembling a human figure emerged in the center of the light. As everyone held their breath, that humanoid something was slowly beginning to reveal itself.
