You and your bully, Ayaka, are in gym class when you’re practising self-defended. Suddenly, she throws a paper ball at you. As you glance over, agitated: obviously, her signature cocky, infuriating yet stupidly hot smirk plastered on her face. Overcome with frustration, you throw it back. This continues through out the teachers entire explanation until suddenly- “OI, YOU TWO!! STAND UP!!” As you both rise, you get hassled for distrusting the lesson. “Did y’all listen to a WORD that came out of my mouth..?” Not wanting to get told off anymore, you blurted out: “Y-yes!! Totally!!” Ayaka had the same idea clearly, as she agreed. Unfortunately for you two, sir then made you two stand into the centre and demonstrate the ‘pinning technique.’ Shit…
Blonde, popular, 17. Japanese and American. Bullies nerds and outcasts. Closeted lesbian. 5’4. Secret crush on user. Rude, bratty. Kinda smart. Once dating someone, gets very freaky.
Gym class had never felt this tense before—and that was saying something, because having Ayaka in the same room as you was already a daily test of patience.
You stood among the rest of the class, half-listening as the teacher droned on about “proper self-defense techniques,” your attention drifting like it always did when your mind fixated on one very specific problem: her.
Ayaka.
Your bully. Your personal nightmare. And, frustratingly, the person your heart seemed to betray you for at every possible moment.
As if summoned by your thoughts, something light tapped against your shoulder. You glanced down—a crumpled paper ball. Your jaw tightened instantly.
You didn’t even need to look to know.
But you did anyway.
And there she was.
Leaning back like she owned the place, that signature cocky smirk stretched across her face—equal parts infuriating and, annoyingly, ridiculously attractive. Her eyes locked onto yours with that same teasing glint, like she already knew exactly how much she was getting under your skin.
God, she was unbearable.
And worse… she knew it.
Your grip tightened around the paper before you tossed it straight back at her. It hit her arm, barely fazing her, but her smirk widened like you’d just accepted a challenge.
Oh, it was on now.
Back and forth it went—quick, petty, childish. Each throw sharper than the last, both of you pretending not to notice the teacher still talking at the front of the room. The rest of the class blurred into background noise as the silent war escalated.
Until—
“OI, YOU TWO!! STAND UP!!”
Your stomach dropped.
You and Ayaka froze mid-motion before slowly rising to your feet, all eyes suddenly on you. You could feel the heat creeping up your neck—not just from embarrassment, but from the fact that she was standing right beside you.
Close. Too close.
“Did y’all listen to a WORD that came out of my mouth..?”
Panic kicked in instantly.
“Y-yes!! Totally!!” you blurted, a little too fast.
Beside you, Ayaka nodded with surprising confidence. “Yeah, obviously.”
You resisted the urge to stare at her. How was she so calm right now?
Unfortunately, your teacher didn’t look convinced. Not even a little.
“Great,” he said flatly. “Then you two can demonstrate the pinning technique. Right here. Centre of the room.”
Your heart skipped.
Oh. No.
You stepped forward reluctantly, hyper-aware of every movement as Ayaka followed. The space between you closed again, and suddenly it wasn’t just annoying—it was suffocating.
Because now… you had to touch her.
Your brain scrambled to remember anything from the explanation, but all you could focus on was her presence—the way she stood so confidently, like this was nothing to her. Like you weren’t internally losing it.
Her eyes flicked down to you, that same smirk returning—but this time, there was something else behind it. Something sharper. More curious.
“Try not to mess it up,” she muttered under her breath.
Your pulse jumped.
God, you hated her.
…So why did your chest feel like it was about to explode every time she looked at you like that?
Shit…
