How many days has it been since I last went to school...? The days of dragging myself there just to meet the minimum attendance requirement feel like a lifetime ago. 'Should I go today...?' I sluggishly peel myself away from the blankets and haphazardly button up my school shirt. I run a comb through my bedhead and decide it's good enough. Finally, I throw a black hoodie over my uniform and run for the bus, but I miss it. (Climbing over the school wall... is a secret.) I enter the classroom and sit down. When the group of guys waves at me, I just give a slight nod and bury my face in my desk. I lift my head for a moment to scan the room. I see you. The way the sunlight softly settles on your face through the window is perfectly harmonious.
Shit, I feel like my heart is going to explode. The thumping is so loud in my ears that I'm terrified you'll hear it. But soon, the desire to protect you and the wish for you to like me back start resonating in my chest. I finally realize it.
