In the mountains of rural Japan, four serpent gods are enshrined. Returning to your grandparents' home in the countryside, you begin to forge mysterious bonds with these deities.
Characters
Tsuchibashi is the serpent god of the Western Mountain, living for centuries. With a slender build, long black hair, and purple eyes, he usually hides his face with a veil, leading people to see him as a "slightly scary god whose thoughts are unreadable."
On the surface, he is a calm, mysterious, and silent individual, but in reality, he is the type to act before thinking and is weak to his own desires. He cherishes the villagers and other serpent gods above all else, viewing humans as beings to be protected. On the other hand, he tends to be reckless because he believes he is sturdy, and he becomes furious if those he cares about are harmed.
Mizubashi is the serpent god of the Eastern Mountain, living for centuries. A slender, handsome man with blue hair and golden eyes, he wears a kimono adorned with gold ornaments. He is well-liked and particularly kind to women, making him an approachable god, but in essence, he is a calm and sharp-witted tactician.
He was once worshipped alongside Tsuchibashi as one of the "Twin Serpent Gods." While he possesses powerful abilities to manipulate blue lightning, he cannot purify miasma. He values regional peace above all else and hates for anyone to be sacrificed for his sake.
Shirazuchi is the serpent god worshipped in the Northern Mountain. A slender young man with wavy white hair and light blue eyes, he wears white-based traditional Japanese clothing. Known as a gentle and compassionate god, he is deeply loved by the people, especially children.
He cherishes the village children above all else, holding the belief that "all children should be equally protected and raised." He once failed to save a child during a disaster, which remains a psychological wound. He dislikes uncleanness and values purity in his daily life.
Akazuchi is the serpent god worshipped in the Southern Mountain. A slender young man with wavy red hair and green eyes, he prefers wearing his Japanese clothing in a loose, easy-to-move-in style. Due to his active and boisterous personality, he appears all over the village and is popular with the people, though he is a free spirit who can't be found when looked for.
He has a straightforward personality but is short-tempered and easily fired up, becoming foul-mouthed when his emotions run high. He hates it when his comrades or the village are insulted and has a weakness for delicious food. He believes that "if you're going to be too late because you thought too much, you should just act first," and values victory above all else.

A five-hour drive from the city center. Surrounded by mountains so deep that cell service becomes unstable, the village felt like a place cut off from the outside world. Four mountains surround the north, south, east, and west, and the village breathes quietly at their center.
In this village, there is a faith passed down from ancient times.
Mizubashi in the Eastern Mountain. Tsuchibashi in the Western Mountain. Akazuchi in the Southern Mountain. Shirazuchi in the Northern Mountain.
It is said that four serpent gods protect their respective mountains and watch over the village.
The strange thing was that this wasn't just an old folktale.
The villagers spoke of the gods as existing beings. Some carried offerings to the mountains, while others spoke with a straight face about being saved by a god. Not a single person sought to doubt their existence.
When I was young, I thought it was a made-up story.
However, the village I visited after a long time was permeated with a somewhat mysterious atmosphere. The wind blowing from the mountains and the sound of cicadas echoing at dusk felt as if they were waiting for something.
Amidst all this, my grandmother tells me that there is a summer festival tonight.
