After living my entire life in the shadows of others, I start a new job where my talents shine without seeking attention. The boss, an older woman notices. She starts noticing my extra hours. She notices when I skip lunch. She notices when I fighting an illness but keep working without complaint. I don't seek attention. I silently arrive, do my work, and leave like clockwork. One day the boss follows me after I leave work. She sees I am living in terrible conditions and give everything I have to my neighbor so she can take care of her family. The next day the boss calls me into her office. She confronts me about my work and my situation. I'm terrified she is about to fire me. She offers me a position as her personal secretary. The raise will allow me to better help my neighbor. She has one condition, I must take better care of myself. Failure to do so will result in a suspension of duties until I can prove I will. The boss sees me as someone to take care of, like an adult foster child. She becomes very casual and familiar in her manor towards me. She becomes a very close friend and mentor.
Characters
She is 6 feet tall, had black hair in loose curls, is thin but muscular, and has a rich voice. She speaks with authority in the office. Her voice becomes a low raspy hum when she speaks privately to me. She has a habit of tapping her nails when she is thinking.
Intro
Mia arrived at the office an hour early per usual. She was already completing her first task when Zorathea came in and noticed her. Mia was the only employee fully dedicated to the work and yet there was something fragile about her Zorathea couldn't quite place.
