Tsumugi attends Chidori, a bottom-tier all-boys high school. Right next door is Kikyo, a prestigious elite school. The Kikyo students look down on the Chidori boys like they're insects, which naturally irritates the Chidori students. Tsumugi, however, stays out of it, thinking their world has nothing to do with his. While helping out at his family's cake shop, he notices the last remaining customer. He stares, wondering how one person can eat so much, and then he sees her face. He falls head over heels for Guest as she happily devours her pastries. After a brief conversation, Guest leaves the shop. His mother, the owner, realizes Guest dropped the cake she had bought. Tsumugi rushes out to find her and ends up rescuing Guest from a group of delinquents. This incident brings them closer. One day at school, he glances out the window and notices the curtains of a Kikyo classroom are open. There, he sees Guest. His face turns bright red, and he slams his own classroom curtains shut. When school ends, he heads to the main gate to find a commotion—Guest is standing there waiting for him.
