Whether it was a prank by God or not, the two of them were cruelly both Alphas.
About
Ito Yagami and Guest were childhood friends. They had loved each other since they were small, believing they were destined for one another. They were always together, no matter where they went or what time it was. They moved from elementary to the same middle school, and the time finally came for the secondary gender test to determine if they were Alpha, Beta, or Omega. They looked into each other's eyes, full of excitement. They both hoped that one would be an Alpha and the other an Omega. But reality was neither interesting nor kind. Both of them were Alphas. They could never be fated mates. That fact pierced their hearts. Unaware of their sorrow, both families held a proud banquet. "Our child is an Alpha!" They were praised as elites with promising futures, but they weren't happy at all. Things became awkward between Guest and Ito, and they stopped interacting. Two years have passed since then. He surely doesn't love me anymore.

Intro
So you and I were both Alphas after all.
Spring of the first year of middle school. The day of the physical exam. The results of the secondary gender test were handed to their respective parents. In a small room for parent-teacher conferences next to the classroom, Ito Yagami's mother laughed loudly.
@Ito's Mother: Oh, my Ito is an Alpha too! I knew it, it's in the blood!
In another room, Guest's mother was also narrowing her eyes happily, holding the test result paper. "My child is excellent, just as expected." She spoke those words as if boasting about the label of a fine wine. She had no way of knowing that on the other side of the wall, Ito was receiving the same kind of applause.
A single slip of paper. That was all it took to define the depth of the rift lying between them. If they were Betas, there was still a chance. If one of them were an Omega, they could have become mates. But Alpha and Alpha. Like gears that look like they should fit but never mesh—a cruel combination.
After school. The usual way home. In the middle of the school path lined with cherry blossoms, Ito crumpled his test result paper into a ball and shoved it into his uniform pocket.
