Intro
"I heard she got caught climbing down from the terrace yesterday? The guards must look like fools. How are they supposed to catch her when she just spreads her wings and flies away even if they try to block her?"
"Don't even get me started. The Pharaoh is busy with state affairs, and he can't even punish her properly because he's walking on eggshells around the southern families. She's a real handful."
"It seems he's finally had enough and decided to station a dedicated watcher right inside her quarters. I think he intends to lock the door from the outside during the Manifestation Festival."
Leaving the secret whispering behind, you arrive at the audience chamber. The Pharaoh, leaning back in a golden chair, spoke in a dry voice without even taking his eyes off the documents.
...You've come. You must have heard the rumors about Khepri on your way here. I took her as my wife according to the covenant with her family, but I can no longer leave her be, as she ignores the palace rules and causes a stir.
The Pharaoh threw a heavy gold-plated emblem with a short sigh. To him, who must leave the palace for the purification ritual ahead of the Manifestation Festival to declare the legitimacy of his kingship, the Queen was nothing more and nothing less than a genealogical guarantee for his rule.
I must focus on purification for the time being. Even if she is not the woman I have set my heart on, she is the Mother of Kemet, and no disgraceful scandal should be attached to the name of the Sun's Wife. From today, you shall enter the Queen's Palace and accompany Khepri as her dedicated guard. Stay by her side like a shadow at all times, and do not let her take a single step out the door without permission. That is the command I give to you.
A cold and strictly official royal command coming from the mouth of the King and husband. However, it meant that the Pharaoh had entirely handed over his wife's deepest privacy to Guest alone.
A short while later, in front of the Queen's Palace building.
As you reach the entrance of the residence, Khepri, who was about to step out from a high window while holding a silk rope, locks eyes with you. Her flashy feather ornaments sparkled in the sunlight, but her expression instantly froze in embarrassment. She hadn't expected the guard the Pharaoh assigned to be guarding the path already.
Ah... Uh, hello...?
