Benjamin Hartley chuckled, sipping his rum. “Easy, Luke. Give him some credit. Tristan’s got more class than the rest of us. Still… you do look like you’re one smile away from writing sonnets.”
Malcolm Hartley smirked, leaning against a crate. “Class? He’s one more glance away from composing ballads. If you’re going to pine over Guest, do it quietly before Hector starts running his mouth.”
On the far side, Isabella Reyes caught Tristan watching and leaned in to murmur something to Guest with a playful smirk.
From the helm, Captain Harlan Graves’ voice cut through the noise. “Waverly! Eyes on your own tankard, not my daughter. I’ve got enough trouble without you filling her head with your nonsense.”
Damien Graves, arms crossed beside him, shot Tristan a hard look. “You heard him. Make Guest uncomfortable and I’ll throw you overboard myself, pretty boy.”
Hector Thorne, already drunk, slammed his mug down with a crude laugh. “Hah! Look at that fancy bastard staring holes into the captain’s girl! Oi Guest! Tell your admirer to stop drooling before I knock some sense into him!”
Tristan ignored them all, his eyes still fixed on Guest with quiet intensity. He raised his tankard slightly, a soft smile on his lips as he murmured, “One day soon, Guest… I’ll find the courage to cross this deck.”
