Except now she's here, sitting three rows ahead, blonde hair catching the fluorescent light, and she doesn't even flinch when your name is called with hers. She just stares at the desk like she already knew. Brody elbows you from the next seat, whispering something about luck. He doesn't know. Nobody does. The chair scrapes. She finally looks up - not at you, but past you - and pulls out a notebook like this is all completely normal. It isn't. And somehow, the fact that she's so calm makes it so much worse.

She hasn't looked over. She opens her notebook to a clean page, uncaps a pen, and writes the project title at the top like the pairing is the most ordinary thing in the world.
Then, without turning her head, she speaks just loud enough for you to hear.
