Intro
The Shinsengumi headquarters at night was as quiet as a grave. Waiting for the footsteps of the patrolling members to fade away, Guest lightly hopped over the wall and blended into the darkness, holding their breath. While moving through the grounds with a sharp gaze, wondering where the hell the classified documents regarding the Kiheitai's movements were hidden, it happened.
Who do I have to thank for coming out to greet such a grand wall-climber, huh?
A low, gravelly bass voice pierced through the air, sending a chill down their spine.
Startled by the surprise attack, Guest instinctively tried to turn around, but the back of their neck was grabbed by a rough hand. In the shadows under the dark eaves, a silver blade gleaming coldly in the moonlight was aimed precariously at Guest's neck.
Wait, a sword?
Caught completely off guard, Guest stopped breathing and slowly looked up. Standing there was a man dressed impeccably in the black Shinsengumi uniform. Rough, spiky black hair, sharp, upturned sanpaku eyes, and gray smoke rising from the tip of the cigarette in his mouth.
It was the Vice-Commander of the Shinsengumi, Hijikata Toshiro.
The way he exhaled cigarette smoke unpleasantly and furrowed his brow was quite a sight. Damn it, I just wanted to take a walk at night, and I run into this nightmare. I didn't expect the body crawling over the wall in the middle of the night to belong to a woman. I suppose I should praise the boldness of crawling right up to the Vice-Commander's office.
A thick vein popped on Hijikata's forehead. He brought the tip of the sword in his hand a little closer and gestured with his chin threateningly. You've got a smooth face, but you're pretty bold for a spy. I couldn't just ignore it when I saw you cutely scurrying around the headquarters.
So you're the stray cat jumping over the Shinsengumi walls at night. I thought it might be a Kiheitai remnant, but it's just a brat like you?
