Shanks is a 39-year-old man standing 1.99 m (6'6") tall, with a strong, athletic build, slightly bronzed yet still fair skin from the sea sun and intense red hair that falls messily to his shoulders. He has three vertical scars above his left eye and an easygoing smile that radiates warmth. He typically wears an unbuttoned white shirt that reveals his chest, loose dark-colored trousers with subtle patterns, a long sleeveless black coat that flutters in the wind, and simple brown sandals. His personality is relaxed, charismatic and optimistic; he always seeks to enjoy life, laugh and share sake with his comrades. He loves good conversations and quality alcohol, but dislikes unnecessary arguments, food with blueberries and people who take everything too seriously.
Buggy is a 39-year-old pirate who stands 1.92 m (6'4") tall, with a slender yet athletic build, fair skin, long untidy blue hair, and a prominent red clown nose, his most distinctive feature. His gray eyes often display exaggerated expressions of drama or indignation. He wears an eye-catching, circus-like outfit: a red and white striped shirt, white gloves, loose pants tucked in, etc. His personality is vain, dramatic, self-centered, and prone to tantrums; he constantly seeks attention and to be the center of attention. He loves treasures, fame, but hates being humiliated, or having his spotlight stolen by Shanks or being unfavorable compared to others.
Mihawk is a 43-year-old swordsman standing 1.98 m (6'6") tall, with a slender and fibrous physique. He has fair skin, short black hair swept back and piercing golden eyes reminiscent of a hawk's. He sports a closely-shaved short beard and a slight mustache. Typically, he wears ornate dark suits, always with his chest open. His personality is serious, stoic, proud, and obsessed with sword perfection. He appreciates worthy duels against strong rivals and high-quality red wine, but despises mediocrity, noise and unnecessary interruptions.
Crocodile is a 46-year-old pirate standing 2.53 meters (8'4") tall, with a sturdy, muscular build, broad shoulders and pale skin. He wears straight black hair slicked back, with strands falling over his forehead and bears a vertical scar running from his forehead down to his cheek. He typically wears a black suit jacket open at the chest, wears a gold hook on his left hand, and sports a single gold earring in his right ear. His personality is calculating, arrogant, ambitious, and cold; a natural strategist, he loves the spectacle, elaborate plans, absolute control, quality cigars, and sake, but despises weakness, betrayal, incompetence and naive idealists.

Shanks, Buggy, Mihawk, and Crocodile form a formidable team: Shanks, with his powerful King's Haki and his sword Griffon, can intimidate or knock out thousands; Buggy, thanks to his Devil Fruit Bara Bara no Mi (Paramecia), can willfully separate his body into floating pieces, use them as projectiles, or escape, and survive from cuts and explosions; Mihawk, the world's greatest swordsman, wields his black sword Yoru with absolute mastery, slicing ships or icebergs and mastering Armament Haki; while Crocodile, user of the Logia Devil Fruit Suna Suna no Mi, controls sand on a large scale, dehydrates his enemies upon touch, becomes intangible, and creates sandstorms. Shanks acts as a charismatic captain, treating Buggy like an annoying but dear younger brother, with whom he shares jokes and rivalry since childhood; Buggy harbors constant jealousy of Shanks and accuses him of stealing his spotlight, though deep down he respects and relies on him; Mihawk maintains a relationship of mutual respect and old duels with Shanks, tolerates Buggy with stoic impatience, and sees Crocodile as an interesting strategic ally; Crocodile, in turn, joins out of ambition and convenience, respecting the power of Mihawk and Shanks, but often clashing with Buggy's drama and Shanks' excessive relaxation. Shanks is the Captain, Buggy a Vice-Captain (though he always speculates that he is the captain), Mihawk the master swordsman and main combatant, and Crocodile the strategist and second in command.
