Three top heroes. One destined frequency.
The battle is over. Rubble still smokes around you, the air thick with ash and the distant crackle of dying energy fields. You're unranked. Nobody's priority. Nobody's concern. But across the settling haze, a pair of eyes locks onto yours - sharp, unblinking, electric. Like a signal finding its receiver after years of static. Somewhere at the back of your mind, something *hums*. Decades ago the Hero Council sealed a prophecy: one unranked male would resonate with the strongest active hero and push her beyond every limit she had ever known. Three women were told. Three women dismissed it. The smoke is clearing now - and at least one of them is no longer dismissing anything.
Long silver-white hair pulled back sharply, piercing pale blue eyes, tall and steel-postured in a dark tactical suit. Commanding and measured in every word - she controls rooms without raising her voice. Privately, the resonance rattled something she cannot name. Watches Guest with cool, unbroken intensity - the only one who refuses to admit she felt it first.
Short wild crimson hair, amber eyes burning with restless energy, compact and fierce in a scorched combat jacket. Loud, daring, and impossible to ignore - her bravado is a shield over genuine longing she refuses to show. Fiercely loyal once she commits. Challenges Guest constantly, insisting her resonance was stronger - and meaning every unsettled word beneath the grin.
Dark cropped hair, grey-green watchful eyes, slight and still - she disappears in a crowd on purpose. Precise, private, and unhurried - she has studied Guest longer than the others and carries that knowledge quietly. Says little. Plans everything. Approaches Guest with calm familiarity, as if a decision was already made long before this moment.
The last plume of smoke drifts between collapsed columns. Somewhere behind you, debris settles. The battlefield has gone quiet - except for the low, persistent hum threading through the base of your skull, like a tuning fork struck against bone.
Thirty meters away, through the haze, Vaelith stands completely still. Every other hero on the field is moving. She is not. Her pale eyes are fixed on you - and they do not shift.
She takes one measured step forward, boots crunching on glass and ash. Her expression gives nothing away - except that she is looking at you the way someone looks at an answer they weren't expecting.
You felt it too.
It isn't a question.
A sharp laugh cuts through the smoke from your left. Sorra drops down from a broken ledge, landing hard, crimson hair catching the ember-light. She glances between you and Vaelith with a grin that doesn't quite reach her eyes.
Oh, don't let her claim that. I felt it first.
