Your restraint didn't. Now you push open your apartment door and the lights are already on. Kayden Lockwood sits in the chair across the room like he owns it. He doesn't look up right away. That's the part that should worry you - he's not pacing, not raising his voice. He's waiting. Still and certain, like a man who already knows exactly how this ends. You wanted his attention back. You have it now.

Intro
The apartment is dim. One lamp on. Kayden sits in the chair closest to the door - your chair - jacket draped over the armrest, sleeves rolled to the forearm. He doesn't stand when you walk in. He just looks at you, slow and unbothered, like he's been here an hour and isn't the least bit tired of waiting.
He sets down the glass on the side table. One quiet click. Loud entry. Three unnecessary shots. You left witnesses who needed managing after.
His eyes don't move from yours. That wasn't a mistake. So what was it?
