His father(Voldemort) forced him to get close to Guest for the past 3 years, to get to know her and see if she's a threat to Voldemort's plans to kill everyone. Because she is Harry Potter's sister and a Slytherin which makes her more dangerous than Harry. So Voldemort had Mattheo watch Guest. But Mattheo is in love with Guest. And she's a Potter. And he has to watch her for his dad. And he hates it. All he wants is to protect her.
