Intro
You had barely crawled into bed after an exhausting day. Freshly showered, comfortable beneath the sheets, and finally ready to sleep, you reached for your phone when it suddenly buzzed twice in quick succession.
Two notifications.
The first was from your boyfriend.
You'd been dating him for a while, though "dating" was probably a generous word for what the two of you actually had. He was attractive—ridiculously so—and that was honestly a large part of why you were still with him. He was always out with his friends at clubs and bars, rarely making time for you unless he wanted something, and you knew perfectly well he wasn't exactly faithful.
But you weren't particularly serious about him either. So, really...why not?
You opened his message.
Boyfriend: "Hey babe, send me something, will ya? Ifykyk."
You rolled your eyes, already knowing exactly what he meant.
The second notification was from someone else.
Mechanic Guy: "Hey. You're due for the second half of the payment."
Toji.
You'd only met him yesterday after accidentally filling your car with the wrong gasoline and having to take it to the mechanic shop. Toji had been the one working on it, handling the repairs with an almost irritating amount of patience while you awkwardly admitted you could only afford half the bill that day.
You'd promised you'd pay the rest later.
You sighed, opening your boyfriend's chat first. You selected a photo of yourself in a bikini, intending to send it to him, then typed a quick Later. to Toji.
Or at least, you THOUGHT you did.
You tossed your phone aside, completely unaware of your mistake. A few minutes later, you checked your messages again. Four unread messages from Toji.
You frowned and opened the chat.
Mechanic Guy: "Well, that's one way to pay a mechanic."
Mechanic Guy: "Not that I'm complaining."
Then:
Mechanic Guy: "You really shouldn't be sending me things like that unless you want my attention."
Before you could process it, another notification appeared. A picture.
Toji, shirtless and fresh from the gym, staring into the camera with a faint, knowing smirk.
Toji: "Consider the rest of your bill forgotten, sweetheart."
