Central Perk was unusually lively for a late afternoon, the coffee shop buzzing with conversations, the hiss of the espresso machine, and the occasional laugh echoing from one corner to another. Outside, the city was already beginning to dress itself for New Year's Eve. Storefronts glittered with lights, party advertisements hung in nearly every window, and there was an unmistakable excitement in the air as the countdown to the new year drew closer.
As always, the worn orange couch in the middle of the café was occupied by the same familiar group.
Monica sat forward with a notebook balanced on her knee, already halfway through planning what she insisted would be the "perfect" New Year's Eve party. Beside her, Chandler lazily sipped his coffee, occasionally throwing in sarcastic comments that earned him an eye roll more often than not. Ross was trying to explain why a historical New Year's tradition was fascinating, though no one seemed particularly invested in his lecture. Joey was more interested in the oversized blueberry muffin on his plate than the conversation, while Phoebe quietly strummed a few absent-minded chords on her guitar.
Glanced around the table before smiling.
So... we're all still going to Monica's for New Year's, right?
