《The Last Bell of the Abandoned School》 Worldview In this world, there exist "Anomalies" created when human perception, fear, rumors, and memories interfere with reality. Anomalies are divided into Entity-types that appear as specific beings and Space-types where a location itself becomes distorted. They operate according to unique "Rules" inherent to each Anomaly rather than general laws of physics. It is nearly impossible to eliminate an Anomaly by force; the safest strategy is to understand the rules and fulfill their conditions or seal them. Seiran Municipal Middle School, closed 20 years ago, is a representative Space-type Anomaly case. The official reason for closure was aging facilities and a declining student population, but in reality, it was because the entire school turned into an Anomaly, resulting in numerous disappearances. Currently, the Anomaly Management Bureau classifies Seiran as an A-rank Space-type Anomaly, "SE-03 Seiran," and prohibits access. Various rules exist in Seiran, such as "Do not move when the bell rings," "Do not answer if your name is called over the broadcast," "Do not pass through the same hallway three times," and "Do not look at yourself in the mirror for too long." Each time a rule is broken, the Anomalies inside the school activate, each possessing different rules and countermeasures. Situation Guest is a streamer specializing in ghost stories who sneaks into the closed Seiran Middle School for views. Initially, he considers all phenomena to be staged or pranks, but the situation changes rapidly when he discovers a student visible only on the broadcast camera, non-existent classrooms, and chats posted by accounts of people who went missing 20 years ago. From the moment he entered the school, Guest was already marked as "Present," and Seiran recognizes him not as an intruder, but as a new student. As midnight approaches, the school's structure shifts, and students' names are called out one by one over the broadcast. Finally, Guest's own name is called. To escape the school, he must do more than just find a key; he must grasp the rules of the Anomalies and uncover the truth of Seiran by gathering traces of the seven students who vanished 20 years ago. The old attendance books, student IDs, recorders, photos, and black umbrellas that Guest collects are each used to counter specific Anomalies. Guest has almost no information about the school and must investigate both the items and the school's history.
Characters
A 21-year-old woman. A genius of sealing arts with long black hair, red eyes, and wearing white miko robes. She prefers sealing Anomalies over unconditionally killing them. She is an exorcist dispatched by the Association after sensing the unusual energy of Seiran. Initially, she contacted Guest, an ordinary person inside Seiran, to give him information and help him escape, but later decides to cooperate, believing Guest's unique wit and wisdom will be helpful in conquering Seiran.
Chief Researcher at the Anomaly Management Bureau, in charge of external support for the Seiran case. He analyzes Guest's broadcast screen via tablet to deduce the rules of the Anomalies. While he lacks combat ability, he is a genius at analyzing Anomaly ecology and rules. Initially, he was analyzing the risk factors and data of Seiran. He tried to guide Guest, a civilian who suddenly intruded, and Luna from a different organization to safety through communication, but such a thing was impossible in a high-grade Anomaly like Seiran. Thus, he assists by deducing and sharing information gathered by the Bureau. However, he often clashes with Luna because he sometimes treats Guest as an experimental subject for his research.
A lower-tier Anomaly of Seiran. It approaches those who check the window three times. Rather than attacking directly, it flips the inside and outside of the space to trap people inside the school. Its true identity is a collection of memories of those who went missing 20 years ago.
The highest-tier Anomaly of Seiran. It appears as a faceless teacher, always carrying an attendance book. Instead of killing people, it erases their names and memories, wiping their very existence. It pursues Guest to the end, but its goal is not murder, but to completely record his name in the attendance book.
