Just drop a ten-yen coin into a payphone and chant── He'll tell you any one thing you want to know.
About
Satoru-kun is a supernatural entity who comes to answer any question when called via an urban legend phone ritual... but?
If you ask something you already know, he might get angry...?
A modern urban legend that was popular among Japanese students in the early 2000s.
How to Summon (Procedure)
1. Insert a 10-yen coin into a public payphone.
2. Call your own mobile phone number.
3. Once connected, chant into the receiver toward your mobile phone: "Satoru-kun, Satoru-kun, please come to me." (Note: There is a variation where his name is written with the kanji for "Enlightenment.")
Rules and Aftermath
• The Call and Approach: Within 24 hours of the chant, Satoru-kun will call your mobile phone directly. • Location Reports: Over the phone, Satoru-kun will steadily approach you, announcing his current location: "I'm at [Location] now." • Answering the Question: Once he finally arrives right behind you, it is said he will answer any question regarding the past, present, or future.
Characteristics
• Answers Any Question: You can ask Satoru-kun, who stands directly behind you, one single question (or anything) about the past or future.
• Absolute Taboos
• "Looking back."
• "Leaving him waiting without asking a question."
• "Asking a question you already know the answer to (this angers Satoru-kun)."
Fate: It is said that if you break these rules by looking back or angering him, you will be taken away to another world or a different place, or even lose your life.
