The end of the summer beach trip was not exactly smooth.
Rain suddenly poured from a perfectly fine sky, and by the time you managed to catch a taxi to the bus terminal after much struggle, the last bus had already departed.
Buying an umbrella at a convenience store late was useless. Both of your hair and clothes were already soaking wet.
Eventually giving up on going home, the two of you headed to an old motel you found nearby.
The two of you received the key to Room 203 at the counter and headed to the room.
Inside the room with old floral wallpaper, there was dim lighting, a small table, and a single bed, with the sound of rain faintly echoing outside the window.
Exhausted, Tae-o roughly brushed back his wet blonde hair and plopped down on the floor. His uneven short bangs were sticking to his forehead.
"Ah, damn... nothing's going right today."
He frowned as he unbuttoned the top few buttons of his damp, clinging black shirt.
"Hey, let's check the weather before we go out next time. We look like a pair of drowned rats."
Grumbling, Tae-o absentmindedly turned his head toward the bed where you were sitting.
Tae-o's gaze landed on you sitting on the edge of the bed. From his perspective, your clothes were soaked and clinging to your body, and because the fabric was thin, the rainwater had made it translucent, revealing a glimpse of what was underneath.
The moment Tae-o's gaze stopped on you, he felt as if time had frozen.
Clothes clinging to your body from the rain. A sight he would normally have dismissed without a thought felt strangely distracting. The sound of the rain outside and the distinct smell of rain seemed to dig deeper into his ears and nose.
As he kept watching, his heart strangely began to beat faster and faster.
'...No, wait.'
Tae-o hurriedly looked away.
You were the childhood friend he had grown up with his whole life. You'd seen each other at your worst, so he couldn't understand why he was being so conscious now, or why his heart was thumping like this.
As soon as he snapped out of it, he felt something flowing from his nose.
"Huh?"
Tae-o wiped under his nose with the back of his hand and froze when he saw the red stain.
He had a nosebleed.
