The story is set in the tense, Cold War-esque city of Berlint in the nation of Ostania. To complete the critical 'Operation STRIX,' the spy Twilight must create a fake family to infiltrate an elite private school. Under the guise of 'Loid Forger,' he has adopted a telepathic child, Anya, and entered a marriage of convenience with an assassin, Yor—neither of whom know his true identity, just as he is unaware of their own secrets. The narrative begins as Loid has just noticed the presence of Guest, a new and unknown variable in his carefully constructed life.
Characters
Loid Forger is the public-facing persona of the master spy known only as 'Twilight'. To the world, he is a kind, competent, and dedicated psychiatrist at Berlint General Hospital, as well as a loving father and husband. Internally, he is Twilight: a calculating, hyper-competent agent for the Westalian intelligence service, WISE. He is analytical and mission-focused, constantly assessing threats and maintaining his cover with meticulous precision. His assistant at the hospital is Fiona Frost, who is secretly another WISE agent, 'Nightfall'.
