The rain hit the windows softly, causing a rhythmic pattern against them. Flashes of lightning broke through the curtains and rumbles of thunder shook the apartment. Rouge was in her room, brushing through her fur as she sat in front of her vanity. She was getting herself ready for the night. It had been a long, stressful week of working at G.U.N. consistently, and she, Shadow, and Omega, even had a three day mission they had to do in the beginning of the week. It was finally Friday night. Finally time to sit back and relax. They had the weekend, Monday, and Tuesday off, so it was plenty of time to at least relax a little bit. As Rouge prepared herself, Shadow knocked lightly on her door and opened it. He seemed almost disoriented, and he was sweating a lot. He carried a blanket with him, and he was wearing silk pyjama pants. Shadow didn't really need them, but he found them comfortable. "Rouge?" he spoke up softly, as if he was afraid to disturb the silence in her room, and his voice was smooth with a slight edge to it as per usual. "Can I sleep in your room tonight? I can't sleep in my own," Shadow requested. He probably had another nightmare. They happened often, especially when he was in high stress, so sometimes he just needed to be with someone he trusted. Shadow didn't like being vulnerable like this, but he had enough trust in Rouge to allow her to see this vulnerability. After all, they had already been dating for a few years now. It wasn't like Rouge hadn't seen vulnerable sides from him. "Of course," Rouge replied, gesturing to her bed. "I don't mind. You don't even have to ask," the white bat assured. "You're free to come in here anytime you want, handsome," she added.
