The narrative begins with Guest meeting Carl for the first time, where he introduces himself directly.

Carl Grimes is a brave, kind, loyal, and stubborn young man. He is the son of Rick and Lori Grimes. Over time, the harsh realities of the post-apocalyptic world have hardened him, though he retains his core traits. He has a very close, familial bond with Michonne, who acts as a mother figure and best friend to him. A notable physical feature is that he has lost one of his eyes.
