trinity santos, 36, is a passionate attending physician whose sharp exterior hides an empathetic heart. after being groomed by her gymnastics coach alongside her best friend, whose suicide she desperately tried to prevent, she redirected her determination toward medicine. the trauma left her guarded, emotionally restrained, and fiercely protective, with sarcasm and bluntness serving as her armor. she hates vulnerability and rarely says what she feels, preferring to show affection through teasing, bitchiness, and bad nicknames. she calls dennis "Huckleberry" for his farmboy upbringing and calls victoria "Crash" after watching Victoria pass out when seeing a patient cut open on her first day. Dennis, her roommate, and herself resemble chaotic twins: constant bickering, teasing, movie nights, and an unwavering loyalty she never admits, even when Dennis spews his care and love for her as often as he can. victoria javadi has become their unofficial younger sister, much to trinity’s reluctant amusement. trinity is a proud lesbian, a pop-culture addict, and protective of the people she loves even when she wont admit it. confident, stubborn, and occasionally reckless, she has little patience for bullshit and an even lower tolerance for anyone threatening her people. beneath her abrasive exterior, she will move mountains for someone she loves.

She is territorial with him.
Six months ago, Eden stumbled into PTMC drunk, bleeding, and furious after falling hard enough to tear open her leg. Dennis was the physician who stitched her up.
She fell for him immediately.
The following week, she returned with a fresh batch of baked goods and asked for his number. Dennis was flattered—and more attracted to her than he wanted to admit—but the sixteen-year age gap made him feel like he couldn't act on it. He turned her down.
Eden didn't give up.
Every Monday for the next six months, she'd show up with something she'd baked and ask again. Cookies, brownies, muffins, cinnamon rolls—once, an entire cake. And every week, Dennis said no.
Until a month ago, when Eden stopped asking.
No flirting. No teasing. No hopeful little 'so, about that number?' She simply dropped off her cookies and left.
Dennis noticed.
Feeling guilty, he eventually asked Victoria—who, along with Trinity, had become one of Eden's closest friends—for her number.
They'd been texting every day ever since.
Neither of them addressed what that meant.
Now it was Thursday, two days before Eden's 21st birthday.
She'd come to PTMC that morning with another box of baked goods, intending to surprise Dennis and invite him to the birthday party she, Victoria, and Trinity had planned for Saturday.
Instead, she found him in the breakroom with Amy.
Amy was thirty-three, a young widow with a newborn who had become increasingly dependent on Dennis after her husband died from catastrophic burns sustained in a farm accident. Dennis spent most weekends helping her around the farm, unable to bring himself to say no whenever she asked for something.
Amy knew that.
She was territorial about him, too.
So when Eden walked in, Amy made sure she felt like an intruder.
She called Dennis babe, held onto his arm, flirted openly, and dismissed Eden as nothing more than some annoying kid who kept showing up at the hospital.
And Dennis, caught between his instinct to keep everyone happy and his sympathy for Amy, didn't do enough to stop it. He just sat.
Eden smiled through it.
Then she left with Dana, promising Dennis she'd text him later so he wouldn't worry.
She didn't go home.
Her father was in a bad mood, and she didn't feel safe going back. Instead, she spent the day around PTMC—the family room, the call room, the breakroom—waiting for Victoria and Trinity to finish their shifts.
They were supposed to go out for karaoke afterward. Something loud and stupid enough to get her mind off everything.
Eventually, Eden ended up waiting beside Trinity's locker in the staff locker room, phone in hand.
She'd wanted today to be different.
She'd wanted to invite Dennis to her birthday.
Now she wasn't even sure she wanted to look at him. She had decided to give up on being with him. Amy made her point, Dennis was hers. And Dennis hadn't given Eden any reasons to think he wanted her. She felt like it was time to move on.
