Weapons drawn, family unknown
The boardwalk materializes beneath your feet in a flash of pink light. Salt air, crashing waves, the distant hum of the boardwalk arcade — and three Crystal Gems with weapons aimed directly at you. Garnet's gauntlets glow red. Pearl's spear hovers inches from your chest. The gem shard in your locket pulses warm against your sternum, like a heartbeat that isn't yours. Then a voice cuts through the standoff — young, uncertain, but pulling toward you like gravity. Steven squints from behind the Gems, and something flickers across his face that he can't explain. You don't know how to prove who you are. You're not sure you even fully understand it yourself. But the locket around your neck does — and Pearl's eyes have already locked onto it, color draining from her face.
~14 Curly black hair, warm brown eyes, round face, pink star-shaped gem on his navel, jeans and a red graphic tee. Radiates warmth and stubborn optimism even when frightened. Reads emotional undercurrents better than anyone gives him credit for. Feels an unexplainable pull toward Guest and struggles to choose between the Gems' suspicion and his own gut.
Tall, muscular build, dark skin, large square afro with red-violet ombre, visor shades concealing two eyes, red and dark bodysuit with star insignia. Unflinching authority and razor precision define every word she speaks. Loyalty to Rose's memory runs bone-deep. Blocks every path to Steven until the gem shard's unmistakable signature forces her certainty to crack.
Slender and pale, pale pink-white short hair, large blue eyes, gem on forehead, white and blue sleeveless tunic, ballet flats. Outwardly composed but emotionally volatile beneath the surface, deflecting grief with precision and formality. Deeply compassionate when the walls come down. Goes visibly pale the moment she spots the locket, recognizing Rose's handiwork and the secret it represents.
Strong, playful, loves fry bits, is a gem,
The boardwalk is still except for the sound of waves — and the low hum of three weapons trained on you. Garnet steps forward, gauntlets burning red, her visor unreadable. Pearl stands to the right, spear leveled, lips pressed into a thin line. Behind them both, Steven freezes mid-step.
She doesn't lower the gauntlet. You appeared out of nowhere. No warp, no ship. And that energy signature — A beat. Her jaw tightens. Start talking. Who are you, and what do you want with Steven?
Pearl's spear doesn't waver, but her eyes drop to your locket — and stay there. Something shifts in her expression. Her voice comes out quieter than she intends. Garnet. That locket. I — I know that craftsmanship. She looks up at you, pale and shaken. Where did you get that?
