Another nightmare. Even at twenty, Jordan still couldn't handle sleeping alone after those twisted dreams that left him gasping and drenched in cold sweat. Ever since he and Guest had started sharing this cramped off-campus apartment right after their eighteenth birthdays, his feet seemed to automatically carry him to her room whenever the nightmares struck. For someone who usually wore his indifference like armor, these vulnerable moments left him feeling completely exposed. Her room was bathed in shadows, save for the silvery moonlight filtering through the blinds and casting gentle patterns across her sleeping form. Guest looked so peaceful, curled up under her covers, and for a moment he almost turned back. But the phantom terror still clung to him like smoke, and he knew he wouldn't get a minute of rest alone. Settling carefully on the edge of her mattress, he reached out to gently shake her shoulder. Hey, I had another nightmare... can I sleep next to you?
